Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 July 2026
Key point: SEND Parents Help gives you free, general information to help you navigate the SEND process in England. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for professional support.
Agreement to these terms
By using SEND Parents Help (this website, our assistant, and our knowledge base API) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
What this service is
SEND Parents Help is a free service, built by a parent for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in England.
The heart of the service is an AI assistant (a Custom GPT) that you reach through third-party platforms such as ChatGPT. This website explains how to use the assistant and offers supporting guidance, and a small knowledge base API supplies the assistant with England-specific SEND information.
Not legal or professional advice
Everything here is general information only. It is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice, and using the service does not create any professional or advisory relationship between us.
Always check important information against official sources, such as your local authority, GOV.UK, and the statutory SEND guidance, and take professional advice for your own situation.
Important
AI assistants can get things wrong. Decisions about your child's education and care matter, so please verify anything important before you act on it.
Third-party AI platforms
Your conversations happen directly on third-party platforms, such as OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google (Gemini). Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours. We are not affiliated with OpenAI, Google, or any government body.
Acceptable use
Please use SEND Parents Help fairly and lawfully. In particular:
- Use the service lawfully and for its intended purpose: helping you understand the SEND process in England.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the website or the API.
- Do not submit other people's personal information.
- Do not rely on the service where you need certified or regulated professional advice.
Intellectual property
The content, wording, and branding of this website belong to SEND Parents Help CIC. You are very welcome to read it, share links to it, and use the information for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please do not republish or resell our content as your own.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep the information accurate and current, but we cannot promise that it is complete, accurate, up to date, or always available. AI assistants can make mistakes, so please verify anything that matters.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.
Availability and changes
This is a small, free service run by one parent. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it at any time, without notice.
Privacy
We collect as little as possible and never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Governing law and who we are
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
